Dreamcast
The is Sega's final video game console and the successor to the Sega Saturn. An attempt to recapture the console market with a next-generation system, it was designed to supersede the PlayStation and Nintendo 64. Originally released sixteen months before the PlayStation 2 (PS2), and three years before the Nintendo GameCube and the Xbox, the Dreamcast is part of the sixth generation of video game consoles, Dreamcast was widely hailed as ahead of its time, and is still held in high regard for pioneering online console gaming. Nevertheless, it failed to gather enough momentum before the release of the PlayStation 2 in March 2000, and Sega decided to discontinue Dreamcast in March 2001, withdrawing entirely from the console hardware business; however, support continued in Japan where consoles were still sold and new games are still being made by the homebrew community.

Le Dreamcast (Japonais : ドリームキャスト) connue pendant son développement sous les noms "Blackbelt," "Dural," et "Katana" est une console de jeux vidéo développée par Sega entre novembre 1998 et mars 2001. Aktualnie nowe egzemplarze konsoli nie są produkowane ani nie wychodzą na nią żadne nowe gry, z wyjątkiem Japonii, gdzie od czasu do czasu wydawane są gry na tę konsolę, głównie scrollowane shootery, bijatyki 2D oraz symulatory randek.

Com o objetivo de recuperar o mercado dos consoles com um sistema de sexta geração, foi criada por forma a bater tecnologicamente o PlayStation da Sony e a Nintendo 64. Mesmo tendo sido considerada um console que se encontrava "bastante à frente do seu tempo" (foi lançado 15 meses antes do PlayStation 2 e três anos antes do GameCube e do Xbox), ela falhou em ganhar "força" suficiente antes do lançamento do PlayStation 2 em Março de 2000. Após o Dreamcast ter sido retirado do mercado, a Sega abandonou definitivamente o negócio de consoles, focando-se exclusivamente no desenvolvimento de software para outras plataformas.

Dreamcast (Japonés: ドリームキャスト "Dorīmukyasuto"), es la sexta y ultima videoconsola de sobremesa producida por Sega, fue desarrollada para suceder la Sega Saturn y para competir con la Playstation 2 de Sony y la Gamecube de Nintendo. Este sistema de videojuegos fue pensado para recuperar el mercado perdido por el PlayStation de Sony y así nuevamente recuperar la reputación perdida con el Sega Saturn. Se equipó a la consola de una unidad óptica especial que maneja un formato de discos ópticos llamados GD-ROM y por ultimo su diseño fue enfocado para el juego online como el Xbox. La consola tuvo buena aceptación en sus primeros días de estreno pero en pleno auge Sega la retira del mercado porque la compañía sufría problemas internos y económicos.

Sega Dreamcast byla poslední domácí herní konzolí od firmy Sega, mela nahradit svého predchudce Sega Saturn a otevrít spolecnosti bránu do sveta 6. generace herních zarízení. Díky tomu, že byla urcena k získání prevahy nad konkurencními stroji o Sony (PlayStation) a Nintenda (Nintendo 64), vyšla již 15 mesícu pred oficiální edicí PlayStation 2 a dokonce tri roky pred GameCube a Xboxem. Nacas se prostrednictvím Dreamcastu podarilo získat zpet povest mezi hrácskou komunitou, bohužel pro Segu však toto období trvalo príliš krátkou dobu. Sony v té dobe predstavovalo dravého rivala a komunita netrpelive ocekávala príchod nástupce veleúspešného PlayStationu. Po jeho vydání v breznu roku 2000 se Dreamcast zacal opet propadat, byl v porovnání s novou konkurencní konzolí hardwarove nedostacující a také softwarová podpora byla nesrovnatelne horší, zejména od výrobcu tretích stran. Z této rány se již Sega nevzpamatovala a zareagovala totálním zastavením výroby domácích herních konzolí.
