Directory (file systems)
In computing, a directory, catalog, or folder is an entity in a file system which contains a group of files and/or other directories. A typical file system may contain thousands (or even hundreds of thousands) of directories. Files are kept organized by storing related files in the same directory. A directory contained inside another directory is called a subdirectory of that directory. Together, the directories form a hierarchy, or tree structure.
Répertoire (informatique)
En informatique, un répertoire est une liste de descriptions de fichiers. Du point de vue du système de fichiers, il est traité comme un fichier dont le contenu est la liste des fichiers référencés. Un répertoire a donc les mêmes types de propriétés qu'un fichier comme le nom, la taille, la date, les droits d'accès et les divers autres attributs.
Verzeichnis
Ein Verzeichnis oder Register, auch Katalog, ist eine übersichtliche, meist nach bestimmten Strukturen gegliederte, listenmäßig darstellbare Anordnung von Informationen.
Katalog (system plików)
Katalog, folder (ang. directory, folder) – logiczna struktura organizacji danych na nośnikach pamięci. Katalog może zawierać pliki i kolejne katalogi. Można powiedzieć, że katalog to pojemnik na pliki (i/lub inne katalogi), pozwalający je katalogować, zamiast składować bezpośrednio w katalogu głównym systemu plików.
Directory
In informatica, una directory (chiamata anche cartella, folder o direttorio), è un’entità nel file system che contiene un gruppo di file e/o altre directory. Il termine directory in inglese significa elenco telefonico. Un file system tipico contiene migliaia e migliaia di file, le directory aiutano ad organizzarli tenendoli insieme ordinati. Una directory contenuta dentro un'altra directory viene chiamata subdirectory (o sottocartella). Insieme, le directory formano una gerarchia, o struttura ad albero. Immaginando il file system come un armadietto di file, le directory di alto livello possono essere rappresentate come i cassetti, mentre le subdirectory possono essere rappresentate come schede di file dentro i cassetti.

Een directory is een begrip dat gebruikt wordt binnen bestandssystemen. Een directory is een groep van bestanden en/of directory’s. Een bestandssysteem kan duizenden bestanden bevatten, directory’s kunnen worden gebruikt om gerelateerde bestanden te groeperen. Een directory in een directory wordt een subdirectory genoemd. De directory’s in een bestandssysteem vormen een hiërarchie, in de vorm van een boomstructuur.

En informática, un directorio es una agrupación de archivos de datos, atendiendo a su contenido, a su propósito o a cualquier criterio que decida el usuario. Técnicamente el directorio almacena información acerca de los archivos que contiene: como los atributos de los archivos o dónde se encuentran físicamente en el dispositivo de almacenamiento.
