Alpha-1-antitrypsine-deficiëntie, ook wel AAD, alfa-1, of A1AT-tekort genoemd, is een weinig gediagnosticeerde erfelijke metabolische stoornis, die zowel kan leiden tot longziekten en leverziekten, als tot een welbepaalde huidziekte (panniculitis) en neurologische stoornissen. Een langdurige en potentieel fatale nierziekte behoort ook tot de mogelijkheden. In het geval wanneer het om longaandoeningen gaat, dan is er vaak sprake van  astma en longemfyseem. Het lijkt er dus sterk op dat Alpha-1-antitrypsine-deficiëntie een systemische ziekte is, vergelijkbaar met de 15 tot 50 keer zeldzamere ziekte van Wilson, vaak met bijna dezelfde symptomen, maar gestoeld op een ander genetisch defect.

Automatic activation device (AAD) je prístroj sloužící v prípade selhání hlavního padáku k automatickému otevrení záložního padáku bez zásahu parašutisty. Prístroj v prubehu celého seskoku provádí merení výšky nad terénem a vertikální rychlosti a pokud vyhodnotí, že ve výšce, kde máte bezpecne viset na otevreném padáku padáte vetší rychlostí než máte, tak automaticky otevre záložní padák. Druhy prístroju se liší, jak podle použití, tak podle výrobce, nejznámejší jsou americký cypres, belgický vigil,ceský MPAAD a nejnovejší Argus, taktéž belgický.
