LAmerican Association for the Advancement of Science' (AAAS), en français « Association américaine pour l'avancée de la science », a été fondée en 1848. Elle est l'une des plus anciennes et peut-être la plus grande fédération d'organisations scientifiques, avec plus de 275 organismes scientifiques affiliés et 10 millions de personnes concernées. Elle est notamment éditrice de la célèbre revue Science magazine.

The AAAS publishes the weekly journal "Science", one of the great scientific periodicals that carries a remarkable range of new information. including, for example, findings from the Apollo mission to Mars as well as reports from the project to map the human genome.

Siglas de la American Association for the Advancement of Science (Asociación Americana para el Progreso de la Ciencia), organismo que radica en New York y que agrupa todas las ciencias oficiales que en el mundo existen. En 1969, a propuesta de la antropóloga Dra. Magaret Mead, aceptó la Parapsicología como ciencia representada por la Parapsychological Association, basándose en los estudios cuantitativos efectuados con los fenómenos ESP (Extra Sensory Perception) llevados a cabo desde 1927 por el Dr.Joseph Banks Rhine, en Duke University, y a los que posteriormente se le unieron los estudios de la PK (Psico-Kinesis).
